Significant Snow Develops this Afternoon Across North-Central and Northeast Georgia, and Spreads Across the Upstate of South Carolina, and into Central and Eastern North Carolina Tonight and Tuesday

CHASE STATUS:  I will be driving from Atlanta to northeast Georgia today to report on this snow event.  I will be streaming live beginning at 10:00am at  Once the snow begins to fall in earnest my live stream can be found at  The mountainous terrain of north and northeast Georgia may impact my mobile broadband signal, but this will be the first true test of my new external antenna and amplifier from, so I’m hoping for some excellent reception in them thar hills.

TARGET:  Young Harris, GA by 1pm EST

DISCUSSION:  A snowstorm will get going this afternoon and evening across north and northeast Georgia, then intensify and spread east-northeast across the upstate of South Carolina tonight and into central and eastern North Carolina later tonight and on Tuesday.  The accumulating snow in Georgia looks to stay generally along and north of a Rome to Athens line.  A general 1-3 inch snowfall looks possible in that area, with isolated higher amounts possible, especially in northeast GA around Sky Valley ski resort.

This system is still not set in stone, and anyone living in the Atlanta metro area should keep up on the latest weather forecasts.  If the track of this system should shift southward, then accumulating snow would fall in Atlanta, especially the northern, northeast and eastern suburbs.
